2008 World Juniors!

The World Junior Hockey Championships are about to get underway for another year. In about 10 minutes, Canada will get underway against the Czech Republic, which should be an amazing tilt. Canada has a young team this year but are still contenders to win the gold medal.

Yet, there may be a goaltending controversy going into the tournament. Jonathan Bernier is pegged to get the start this afternoon against the Czechs, but Coach Hartsburg has clearly not labelled a number one starter. Steve Mason, goaltender with the OHL's London Knights will backup Bernier for Game 1, but closely matches Bernier's skill. Hartsburg explained that Mason could get the start Thursday vs. Slovakia. Depending on which goaltender plays the best in their game, this could determine who gets the starting job the rest of the way.

I look at a guy like Bernier and think "hey, this guy led the Lewiston Maine to the Memorial Cup". I look at Bernier and say "hey, this guy played for games at the NHL level and won the first one that he started". However, thats not to say that Mason isn't as skilled and does not deserve to start. He set an OHL record last year with 45 wins. Thats nothing to sneeze at....*ACHHHHHOOOOO* . Sorry...anyways I'm hoping that the goaltending stands up as some of the best Team Canada has ever had. Carey Price's play is going to be hard to top. Ten rounds of shootout anyone???

On a sort of unrelated topic, I am off to Boston on January 4th for a weekend road trip. We will be hitting up the Devils/Bruins game Saturday night and just enjoying a weekend out of town. I'm sure it will be a sober weekend....bahahahahahaha. Yes...well...anyways, the Canada/Czech game is beginning so I must go!

Adios!
